Hey Keys!

I am really excited to be talking to you right now, but I'm not even gonna lie...I am extremely stressed out. Not only am I exhausted from my 8hr shift today, or the day-to-day stress of just being me (lol), but African Fashion Week Toronto begins this weekend *SCREAMS*!

For those of you who don't know, this is a really special and surreal African Fashion Week for me. It's only my second year walking this fashion week but guess what...I'M THE FACE OF AFWT 2018! So weird to say, even weirder seeing posters and flyers of me all over social media and public places! How did I get here you ask? Well an ad was put out searching for the Face of AFWT 2018. I really didn't know what to expect and just submitted my selfie and waited for the day of the competition. The day came and I was actually super excited because not only was it a reason to go downtown but the bestie Racquel was going to compete too! It really was just a time to network, be around beautiful women, and slay with the wifey.

All of the above happened...and more. I ACTUALLY WON THE WHOLE COMPETITION! So yeah...that's how I became the face and I am forever humbled and grateful that the Most High saw it fit in my journey and that the judges saw something in me to carry on this brand's legacy. So many beautiful women have paved the path for me to be in this position today, and I only pray that I too can serve as an inspiration to many young Queens trying to be the best versions of themselves.

Just the other day I was on Breakfast Television representing for African Fashion Week and the feeling I get from watching the clip is so crazy. Looking at all that melanin and cultural prints that flooded the TV screens of millions was hella revolutionary. Definitely no where near the level of recognition and respect we deserve as such a vibrant, innovative, and inspirational people...but a step indeed, a step I am proud to be a part of. That all being said, African Fashion Week Toronto goes on from Thursday August 30th - Sunday, September 2nd at The Globe and Mail Centre and it surely is about to be movie. A royal, festive, cultural, groundbreaking movie, and lil old me (although 5"11') will be the star cast member...crazy. Hope to see you there!
