Lately, we’ve been feeling a lot of pressure in our personal lives as we both have a ton on our plates at the moment. So what better time than now to talk to you about how we deal with stress in our lives. Enjoy!

RACQUEL'S TIPS

1. Smoke some weed

This one is pretty self-explanatory lol. It immediately makes me feel happier and more relaxed. If you’re not into smoking it, there are many other forms of cannabis that you can consume!

2. Take a walk

If weed isn’t your thing, then getting some exercise is also a great way to de-stress and get your thoughts together. Whenever I go on a walk in my neighbourhood, I listen to a podcast. Any form of exercise, whether it’s just a simple walk or a serious gym session, is perfect for managing your stress.

3. Plan ahead

Ask any of my friends, I am the last person to procrastinate and I love planning ahead. If I do something last minute, it is guaranteed I will be super stressed. To avoid that as much as I can, I like to plan ahead. You don’t need to buy a fancy planner or anything, the calendar on your phone is just as good!

4. Talk to a friend

This is for when shit gets really hard. Whenever I can’t think straight and need to get something huge done, I talk to my friends. They give me a perspective outside of myself and can see my situation from a different angle.

5. Read a Book

Okay, this is if you’re not stressed out about studying because who wants to read after you just read bare pages? This is what I do if something else life throws at me is stressful or giving me anxiety. Reading a fiction book is the best way I escape from the current situation.

KIM'S TIPS

1. Pray about it

No matter how big or small I feel the stressor is, connecting to the higher source always brings me back to a level head. To me there is no problem that the Most High doesn’t know about or is too big for the Most High to handle. Knowing that there is so much more to life and that I’m really just a small piece in the overall puzzle really humbles me and makes my stresses feel extra trivial.

2. Being in your own positive space

When I feel overwhelmed with things or people, I tend to isolate myself. Now I’m not telling you to lock yourself up in a dark room and cry about your sorrows (although definitely guilty), but being in your own space enjoying your company is what it’s all about. Doing things you love and are passionate about will really help blow off some steam!

3. Meditate

So this is something I’ve been trying to work on, but taking a moment to tell yourself that it is going to be alright and actually believing it, does wonders. Taking a walk through nature, listening to some soothing music, or just taking in where you are mentally in total silence, can help clear your mind.

4. Venting through an artistic outlet

You don’t have to be a Picasso to release stress artistically. I personally turn to makeup looks to put me in a better mood and just release my feelings at the time. Write in a diary, create a song, paint a picture, anything that will get your creative juices flowing. Who knows, you may even create the best art of your life!

5. Find a furry friend

You know those dog sessions Universities hold that you can attend to release stress...well that’s some real shit. Animals have such a crazy way of making you feel like everything is okay. They just want to be loved (well some), and don’t have a problem reciprocating that back (some again). Get a pet, dog sit, go to an animal shelter, anything to experience the beautiful energy that animals bring.
