NAME:

KvY (Pronounced "Kay")

ORIGIN:

Lagos, Nigeria

BACKGROUND:

"Music is expression. No matter what form, language or energy it's being portrayed in, it will always be about the vibes and as a kid growing up, i was able to understand the different emotions that can be captivated by various vibrations in music. This realization made me passionate about music so i fell in love and have been creating ever since."

INFLUENCES:

"My influences are basically artists that I learned from and caught the most vibes from. Burna Boy, Kendrick Lamar, YMCMB , Wizkid, Akon, J. Cole, Kid Cudi, Nelly Furtado."

FUTURE:

"I want my music to make people feel some type of way when they listen lol because in my opinion, music that incites some form of emotion is the best kind of music and with that as my aphorism, i believe that my music will travel the world and make me one of the greatest to ever do it".

"Baddie"

Super fun song! All of KvY’s tracks are upbeat and dance worthy. You can’t help but to do a likkle two-step to this song. Such a cool mix between afro and techno. It really creates a different vibe that I dig. I can easily picture this song on the radio. It fits with the trend of the way afro music is headed and it is really catchy.

One of my fave songs from KvY hands down. This is such a summer tune with it’s afro-caribbean vibes, that just takes you somewhere warm. Tbh...I can’t help but buss a rude whine when this track comes on. I love how this track is dedicated to all the baddies out there, especially us African/Caribbean Queens! Too often we associate “foreign” with European beauty when in fact..we are the most foreign baddies out there!

"Higher

Um..can I have a relationship like this song is talking about?! Again, super catchy afro-techno beat, similar to “Baddie” that makes you want to move. This, and all of the tracks sound high-quality and you can tell KvY did not want to put out a track that was below par. There is so much talent in our community and KvY is no exception.

Kvy continues to bring the sunshine with this track here. It’s definitely more of a romantic track but the lively rhythm and Kvy’s smooth voice make it appropriate for all summer occasions. I feel like this track gives me African Romeo and Juliet vibes lol...I don’t know! What I do know is that ‘Higher’ has really just elevated my summer playlist.

"On The Way" ft. Volum

The beginning of this song reminds me of the song “Unforgettable” by Swae Lee and French Montana but with a different feel, you know what I mean? Once again there’s that super catchy beat that I love, I have been jamming out in my chair this whole time lol. There’s an instrument that kicks in at parts of the song, I have no idea what it’s called, but it really switches up the mood of the track. Out of the three tracks we have reviewed, this is my my favourite!

This track is definitely for all my boss guys and gyals. Kvy and Volum come together to make a hustla anthem, staying true to the smooth melodies and electric rhythms. This song is super moody and gives you a type of brown-liquor-night kinda vibe. When you have goals in life, it is vital that you stay committed, focused, and in your lane. Kvy is clearly ‘On The Way’ with no signs of slowing down!
